Students delve into the exploration of historical design movements, cultural influences, and emerging trends. Through immersive projects and case studies, they develop a nuanced understanding, ensuring that each design project is anchored in a rich tapestry of knowledge. Central to our approach is the primacy of understanding end-users. Students learn to conduct user interviews, surveys, and behavioral studies. This focus ensures that designs not only captivate aesthetically but also enhance functionality and well-being, placing users at the forefront of the creative process. Recognising the collaborative nature of the industry, our curriculum places a strong emphasis on teamwork. Students engage in group projects mirroring real-world scenarios, honing skills in effective communication, compromise, and leveraging diverse perspectives for optimal outcomes. At the heart of interior design lies the art of spatial design. Our course provides an in-depth exploration of arranging and organizing spaces to optimize both functionality and aesthetics. Students learn to manipulate volumes, proportions, and circulation, ensuring they can create environments that tell a compelling story and evoke specific emotions. In a rapidly evolving landscape, innovation becomes a necessity. The curriculum encourages students to push boundaries, explore unconventional materials, and embrace cutting-edge technologies. Through design thinking exercises and exposure to industry innovations, students cultivate a forward-thinking mindset to stay at the forefront of the field. Sustainability and responsible design are seamlessly integrated into the curriculum through the concept of adaptive reuse. Students explore projects that involve repurposing spaces, instilling in them a sense of responsibility towards the built environment while minimizing environmental impact. Interior design extends beyond aesthetics; it encompasses the holistic experience of a space. The course encourages students to consider the interplay of various elements, fostering an understanding of how components interact to create a cohesive environment. From color psychology to the psychological impact of lighting, students gain a comprehensive view of design elements. In an era where environmental consciousness is paramount, our course places a strong emphasis on sustainability and responsible design.
