The agenda of “Tales of encounters, projects, and successes”, the course of lectures organized by Istituto Marangoni The Milano School of Design, introducing the most interesting figures in contemporary design, continues after the first appointment in February with German designer, Sebastian Herkner. On Monday, March 21, Gordon Guillarmier met design students and enthusiasts to talk about his professional route, rich in collaborations with the most important Italian and international brands. Born in Malta in 1966, Guillarmier started his career at Baleri Associati and with architect and designer Rodolfo Dordoni. After the first works for Foscarini and Mito, in 2002 he opened his studio in Milan where he has designed furniture, accessories and lighting for Desalto, Driade, Fontana Arte, Minotti, Moroso, Roda, Foscarini, Kronos Ceramiche, and many others. Gabriele Chiave, Head of Design at Wenders, will be giving a talk at the Milano School of Design on Friday, April 8. After a cosmopolitan upbringing and education, leading his style to enjoy a global perspective, Chiave spent five years at Marc Sadler's working for famous Italian brands such as  Alessi, Dainese, Foscarini, and Serralunga. Since 2007, he has been working at Marcel Wenders', where he is presently Head Designer. The first series of meetings will end on Tuesday, May 3 with Patricia Urquiola, undoubtedly one of the most prestigious names in today's design. Born in Oviedo and graduated at Politecnico di Milano in 1989, she has worked with design legends Achille Castiglioni and Vico Magistretti, and was head designer at Lissoni Associati before opening, in 2001, her own product, interior and architectural design firm. The MoMa in New York, the Les Arts Décoratifs museum in Paris, the Museum für Gestaltung Zurich, the Vitra Design Museum in Basel, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and the Museo della Triennale di Milano, all have her works in their collection. Named Designer of the Decade by magazines Home and Häuser, as well as Designer of the Year by Wallpaper, AD Spagna, Elle Decor International, and Architektur und Wohnen, Urquiola has been art director of Cassina since September 2015. To participate in the lectures, open to public at the school premises at 24, via Cerva, please write to design@istitutomarangoni.com Patricia Urquiola · May 3, 2016 · 5:30pm Istituto Marangoni School of Design, 24, via Cerva, Milan
