Inside Look: Brunello Cucinelli at Solomeo
Students from the courses in Fashion Buying & Merchandising and Fashion Business & Marketing at the Florence School of Fashion and Art had the opportunity to visit Solomeo, the magnificent medieval hamlet that hosts Brunello Cucinelli’s headquarters.
The atmosphere in Solomeo is unique, and entirely reflects Brunello Cucinelli’s philosophy, which has always been deeply bound with culture, art, tradition, history and, ultimately, a happy life.
The tour began with a visit of the hamlet, the true core of his family, business and spiritual life, and then moved to the theatre, the School of Arts and Crafts and the Forum of the Arts. Students could have a direct experience the idea of a “humanistic capitalism” that characterises the whole company and that focuses on the well-being and the dignity of each employee.
Students then moved to the manufactory plant, where they witnessed some crucial phases of the production process and take a closer look at the high-end machinery that Brunello uses to create his collections.
A one-of-a-kind entrepreneur, Brunello Cucinelli has recently took part as a special guest to the first Fashion Education Market Monitor Summit, promoted by Istituto Marangoni and Deloitte in order to discuss the worldwide positioning of the Italian Fashion Education system and its relationship with the industry. In his speech, Brunello focused on the importance of empathy within a fashion company and reminded how crucial it is to keep valuing craftsmanship and manual labour.
