On 16 October 2024, a special event was held at the Swarovski flagship store in Piazza del Duomo, Milan, to celebrate the conclusion of the tailoring project of Istituto Marangoni Milano  supported by Swarovski, a global leader in crystals and luxury jewellery.

Four Fashion Design students—Enrico Giuseppe Renna, Bruna Bernardo Tognini, Peiquin Yu, and Chiyapim Suebsureekul—presented their creations through the interpretation of the italian baroque artist Francesco Curti’s art on a genderless shirt using the creative application of iconic Swarovski crystals.

The project provided the young designers with the chance to work closely with Swarovski materials, exploring new techniques and creative approaches to produce innovative garments that reflect both contemporary aesthetics and craftsmanship. “If Marangoni has grown today, it is also due to the commitment of brands in supporting the creativity of young people, and Swarovski has been extraordinary in this respect,” says Barbara Toscano, School Director of Istituto Marangoni Milano. “They have always invested in providing students with a wealth of materials, and I believe this contributes to the brand's success, which has always invested in the creativity of talents.”

THE CONTEST

The collaboration between Istituto Marangoni Milano and Swarovski highlights the commitment of both institutions to promote creativity and innovation in the international fashion landscape. While Istituto Marangoni continues to train future professionals, Swarovski pursues a collaborative philosophy through the Creators Lab project, a creativity incubator that engages various brands in producing limited editions showcased in the Milan flagship. “We value the infinite potential of creativity,” stated Massimo La Greca, general manager of Swarovski.

THE WINNER: CHIYAPIM SUEBSUREEKUL

Chiyapim Suebsureekul, the contest winner, designer from Thailand and recipient of a scholarship to support the development of her personal project, presented her collection titled "A Fusion of Magic and Science," inspired by the enchanting world of gardens, where the synergy between animals, flora, and fauna flourishes.

This creation, influenced by the Baroque style, is distinguished by its expressive and passionate forms, blending curves that evoke fluidity and emotion while maintaining meticulous symmetry and mathematical precision. Details such as raindrops on the collar and decorations reminiscent of fountains represent a delicate balance between the natural and the artificial.

Chinese designer Peiqin Yu created a cascade of pink flowers and pearls. Bruna Tognini, a Brazilian designer, explored geometric structures inspired by beehives, while Italian designer Enrico Giuseppe Renna played with the lights and colours of spring rains.

A unique sartorial collection that reflects not only the theme of the enchanted garden, but also the identity of each designer and the importance of manual labour and quality craftsmanship, supported by innovation and technology.
