For the next Salone del Mobile, Istituto Marangoni Alumnus Silvio Pompei will be awarded for his “Contemporary mobility” project created with Nava Design. The project was developed as part of I’M Corporate Lab, the tailored consulting service Istituto Marangoni provides to companies, designed to value the creativity of the best fashion, design and art students.

The project developed by Istituto Marangoni and Nava Design consists of the design and creation of a multifunctional accessory with a strong appeal to the female target, falling into one of the following categories: Urban Mobility, accessories for people travelling for business or pleasure; Extra Urban Mobility, functional accessories for transport and trips out of town, and Work Mobility, accessories designed for formal and business occasions.

The accessory designed by Silvio Pompei is Pocket II, a backpack suitable for holding various digital devices and equipped with a special pocket that becomes a perfect mini bag for informal urban and non-urban situations when necessary.

Istituto Marangoni Design School Alumnus Silvio Pompei will be awarded during a special event at the Salone del Mobile on 9 June from 6:30 pm at the Nava Design store on Via Durini. It will be an opportunity to present the project to the press and industry professionals and celebrate a partnership that promotes next-gen talent with a cocktail party.

“With this project, Nava aims to be a point of contact between the academic and manufacturing worlds. From the idea and the design to the prototype to the finished, concrete, real, material product. The creativity students work on at school is applied to creating an object, combining design and knowledge to develop a project that meets functionality requirements without neglecting the design of the object.”
Gian Carlo Soresina, Creative Director - Nava Studio.

“This initiative is part of the I’M Corporate Lab, a creative hub involving the best students from IM schools to provide tailor-made solutions to fashion and luxury companies. It is a real consultancy service that starts from companies’ needs, bringing innovative solutions related to the macro areas of Employer Branding and Talent Acquisition. It also involves the development of specific projects like this one for Nava Design, co-branding communication projects, and training courses with a view to reskilling and upskilling”, said Cristina Cancer, Head of Alumni, Career & Industry Relationship and head of the Corporate Lab.

“Our mission has always been to support students even after their graduation by continuing to provide opportunities and industry connections. This collaboration with Nava Design is tangible proof of this”, said Sergio Nava, Director of Education of the Milano Design School.
