The students of Istituto Marangoni Milano Design have taken centre stage in a bold and unconventional project that merges design, fashion, and creativity: the creation of an innovative accessory for… an apple, the Envy™ apple.

Over the past few months, sixty students from the Product and Visual Design courses have been challenged to craft a unique design object: an apple holder that seamlessly blends aesthetics and functionality, transforming an everyday gesture into an exclusive experience. The collaboration between Istituto Marangoni Milano Design, Envy™ apple, and designer Marco Rambaldi gave rise to a creative contest that encouraged students to experiment with materials, shapes, and new modes of expression in product design.

The young creatives explored every aspect of product design, from technique—developing sketches, paper and cardboard models—to the use of diverse materials, from ceramics to fabric and leather.
A prestigious jury, comprising designer Marco Rambaldi, representatives from Vogue Italia, and Envy™ apple, selected the top three projects from the sixty submissions. The winners stood out for their ability to reinterpret the language of fashion through an everyday object, transforming it into a sophisticated and multi-sensory accessory.

From Creativity to the Catwalk: The Winning Project at Fashion Week

The piece selected to take the runway at Milan Fashion Week is "The Golden Apple", created by Mahra Mustafa, a first-year Product Design student. The project stands out for its lightness and versatility: a woven structure of threads that transforms the apple holder into an elegant bag charm or wearable accessory.

In second place is "The Earth of Eden" by Katherine Hoshima, a first-year Visual Design student, who crafted a golden brooch that frames the Envy™ apple, elevating it as a central element to be worn close to the heart.

Taking third place is "Framed" by Gian Marco Festa, a Product Design student, who designed an accessory in the shape of a transparent frame, highlighting the beauty of the Envy™ apple as if it were a work of art.

The students’ journey continues with an extraordinary opportunity: the winning project will be refined in collaboration with Marco Rambaldi’s team and will have the honour of being presented during Milan Fashion Week, as part of the designer’s Autumn/Winter 2025-26 collection.

A remarkable achievement that underscores the excellence of Istituto Marangoni Milano Design in nurturing young talents, equipping them to tackle ever-evolving challenges with innovation and practicality.
