What does it feel like to be in a place suspended in space and time? How can physical reality interact with digital reality to create a phygital work that integrates technology and materiality?

Istituto Marangoni Milano seeks to answer these and other questions with Estrangement, the fashion show with which The School of Fashion will present the collections of the 10 Best Fashion Designers of the school year 2022/2023.

The show is inspired by the concept of individual isolation in today's society, which is both exacerbated and mitigated by the digital world. However, with the use of tools such as Artificial Intelligence and the creation of new worlds like the Metaverse, we now have the ability to connect and interact with each other in ways that were unthinkable a decade ago.

The show will celebrate these new opportunities and offer participants an immersive experience whose digital side will interact in real time with the collections and explore the increasingly closer relationship between humans and the virtual world. The soundtrack, composed by Sound Designer Chiara Luzzana, is an original piece that is designed exclusively for the event using Artificial Intelligence and will be played live during the fashion show, intensifying the experience for the audience.

The collections featured in the show have been selected among those of 40 finalists by a jury of industry experts, including Francesca Ragazzi, Head of Editorial Content at Vogue Italia; Nicola Brognano, Creative Director of Blumarine; Sara Maino, Educational & Scouting Initiatives Advisor Vogue Italia and Federico Rocca, Fashion Advisor of Vanity Fair.

The Show will take place on 19 September at 6.30 p.m. at Frigoriferi Milanesi 10, Via Piranesi, and will also be streamed on Istituto Marangoni Instagram profile and on Istituto Marangoni Metaverse.
