The 60th edition of the International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, titled ‘Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere’ and curated by Adriano Pedrosa, is taking place in the Central Pavilion (Giardini) and the Arsenale until November 24, 2024. The exhibition is divided into two sections: the Nucleo Contemporaneo and the Nucleo Storico. Additionally, there are 30 collateral events happening throughout the city, with fashion playing a significant role.

A total of 88 nations participate in the Venice Biennale Arte 2024 with their artistic projects.
The Italian Pavilion at the Tese delle Vergini in the Arsenale, sponsored and promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, is curated by Luca Cerizza with the project Due qui / To hear by the artist Massimo Bartolini, which includes special contributions by musicians and writers.

Tod’s, a partner of the Italian Pavilion, presented an exhibition at the Lagoon to celebrate Italian craftsmanship and lifestyle. The exhibition, titled ‘The Art of Craftsmanship – a Project by Venetian Masters,’ paid tribute to Italian heritage, craftsmanship, Venice, and Tod’s iconic products.

Eleven artisans from Venice showcased their unique craftsmanship and tools by interpreting Tod’s signature Gommino, reflecting the brand’s commitment to excellence championed by its chairman, Diego Della Valle.
The French Pavilion, entrusted to artist Julien Creuzet for the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, is organised by the Institut français on behalf of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture. It is curated by Céline Kopp, director of Magasin, the national centre of contemporary art in Grenoble (France) and Cindy Sissokho, curator of the Wellcome Collection in London. The exhibition is supported by the LUMA Foundation and the Chanel Culture Fund, which is a network that promotes cultural innovators and creators.

Moreover, Burberry is the headline sponsor of the British Pavilion for the second year. This year, the British Pavilion, commissioned by the British Council, presents a new exhibition titled ‘Listening All Night To The Rain’ by artist and filmmaker John Akomfrah.

In addition to art exhibitions, there are fashion-themed showcases. From March 28 to November 24, the ‘Helmut Newton. Legacy’ retrospective at Le Stanze della Fotografia on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore presents a comprehensive collection of works tracing the photographer’s life.

Jewellery enthusiasts will appreciate Buccellati’s retrospective exhibition ‘The Prince of Goldsmiths. Rediscovering the Classics,’ held at the Oficine 800 venue, located along the Giudecca Canal, until June 18, 2024. Conceptualised by Balich Wonder Studio and curated for jewellery and silverware by jewellery scholar Alba Cappellieri, it spans 100 years of the Buccellati family’s history, highlighting their unique craftsmanship and evolution alongside fashion influences.

Dior is supporting Cosmic Garden, a special event taking place during the 2024 Art Biennale, curated by Maria Alicata and Paola Ugolini at the Salone Verde – Art & Social Club in Venice until November 24. The spotlight shines on the works of Indian artists Madhvi and Manu Parekh, which have been translated into textile artworks by the Chanakya School of Craft in Mumbai with a nod to the Dior Fall 2023 fashion show that was held against the iconic Gateway of India archway.
