The Bachelor Degree course in Fashion Communication & Image (recognized by Italian Ministry of University and Research) encourages students to create their own visual culture (i.e. to develop an aesthetic sense and artistic direction), which can then be applied to any professional project in which they will be involved.
The three-year Bachelor Degree Course mixes traditional media with digital tools. This course is the translation of fashion language into multimedia: students receive a 360-degree view of a certain aesthetic and narrative with graphic languages typical of the sector.
Upon completion of the Course, students are trained to be able to design and produce photo shoots (commercial and editorial), advertising campaigns, fashion films, fashion magazines starting from the conception of the creative idea to its realisation , and will thus be able to coordinate production teams.
During the academic path at Istituto Marangoni, the student experiences the production phases and a research methodology that he/she will later find in the working world. The research folder and the technical book can be considered as the real learning tools.
Figures such as the Fashion Stylist, the Photographer, the Art Director, and the Fashion Editor are fashion professionals who, during their academic training, have learnt the taste and design narrative and visual languages of fashion brands and media.
Once in the working world, this experienced figure will then be able to market any campaign.
This professional figure is required to have an all-round preparation in the cultural field, and can therefore be defined as a ‘director of images’, working in the artistic direction of a fashion film rather than for a fashion show.

FIRST YEAR
Style analysis and image exploration
Students analyse the fundamentals of styling in different areas: from photography to journalism, from visual merchandising to adv and trend forecasting. This full immersion is structured so that the student acquires a visual culture and knows the differences between commercial image, fashion image, image for editorials etc.
Participants begin to understand the dynamics that govern the fashion system and visual communication.
During the first year, students also explore the possible roles they could undertake in the sector, in order to have a complete vision of the multiple career opportunities that the course in Fashion Communication & Image can offer.
SECOND YEAR
Editorial design for magazines and media
The focus shifts to editing and producing more personal editorial projects. Students work on a print magazine managing the entire process, from editing to editorial production. This year is characterised by an intense schedule of editing and photography sessions, with a focus on the creation of high-quality content.
THIRD YEAR
Fashion film production with the creation of a personal portfolio (and website)
During the third year, great emphasis is placed on personal branding and the definition of personal style. During this academic year, the primary objective is the refinement of one's stylistic identity and the construction of a personal portfolio that is able to meet the needs of the contemporary fashion industry.

The Fashion Communication & Image program is a comprehensive course that covers the experimental and inspirational elements of the fashion creative industries and beyond, focusing on enhancing and curating individual styles and contemporary creative outcomes via multiple media. Istituto Marangoni Riyadh offers 3-year Advanced Training Diploma programs that cater to the specific demands of the local job market for the chosen specialization.
As part of the didactical experience provided to its trainees, the Diploma include an internship period (“Cooperative Training”) which is embedded in the Study Plan of each programme at the third year. This working experience allows trainees to take advantage of skills and topics learned during lessons, putting them into concrete practice within a real professional environment. The internship consists of a period of an experience in professional practice through the realization of individual or group project in collaboration with institutions or companies on their premises, or on the institute’s premises (internship on campus).
The Fashion Communication & Image Advanced Training Programme aims to inspire experimentation and exploration, to allow the development of an individual fashion style and harness creativity.
Trainees will expand on their industry practical skills, through the planning organisation and implementation of fashion shoots, working, managing and being an integral member of a fashion team, whilst building contacts with photographers, models and makeup artists, and expand their professional portfolio.
Photo-shoots will encapsulate various formats from still life styling and photography to the development of sets, creating narratives and propped environments, to communicate fashion stories. Editorial styling will further enhance application of the styling processes and production, embracing research of ideas, including the investigation into trends of makeup, hair and beauty to inform model looks. Editorial images will be used in a published magazine format, presented to a professional standard of execution and layout.
Projects include the planning and realisation of advertising campaigns for multiple briefs and clients. The programme encourages trainees to create and manage self-initiated briefs, which are implemented through fashion editorial shoots and art direction of fashion videos. Theory and academic writing will underpin the delivery of the creative pathway through the proposal and writing of a final project work, which will investigate a personal topic of interest.
The production of images will require enhanced skills in photo retouching, CAD, visual formatting and layout techniques using InDesign.
Trainees will progress by undertaking a series of creative and commercial projects, which will contribute to the execution of a professional portfolio and production of a website, which represents their individual creative style. The application of fashion writing and graphic presentation skills is integral to the presentation and communication of all visual outcomes.
Students can have the opportunity to either complete their study path in Saudi Arabia or take advantage from Study Abroad mobility towards Istituto Marangoni campuses.
Students who complete the 3-year program at Istituto Marangoni Riyadh will receive an Advanced Training Diploma, certified by TVTC and recognized in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The program includes a 6-month internship (Cooperative Training).
After 2 years students can progress to the final year at Istituto Marangoni London or Paris and get a Bachelor's Degree in the chosen field of study.

Students understand Creative Direction in its entirety, leading to an in-depth understanding of photo shoots, campaign production, film making, 3D video development, PR and media planning, soft skills, editorial styling, academic research. Software used: Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, 3D software During the third year, students work on two personal projects. The first is the final Portfolio, consisting of all the visual projects of the year (studio shoots, outdoor shoots, fashion films, motion graphics videos, 3D videos, art direction, industrial projects) to be presented to a final jury and to be used immediately for job applications. The second project is an important academic research concerning the visual culture of fashion and is essential to hone the analytical skills to become a creative director and eventually enter a master's programme.
