Antisemitism statement

The School has adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) wording definition on antisemitism in full. The adoption of the definition was agreed at a meeting of the School Board in July 2021 and the Board of Governors. 

The definition is given below: 
“Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred towards Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.” 
The School is aware that while many Universities and higher education providers have adopted the IHRA definition in full, several institutions have also supplemented its adoption with additional clarifications regarding their commitment to maintain freedom of speech including engaging in debate regarding Israel and Palestine. In adopting the IHRA definition of anti-semitism in full, the School has not determined it necessary to issue any additional comments at this time other than to reaffirm its adoption of the definition and that it will not tolerate any expression of beliefs, opinions or behaviours that constitute anti-semitism.
