The Salone del Mobile, April 12-17 in Milan, will involve several projects carried out by the students of Istituto Marangoni the Milano School of Design in collaboration with highly important international companies, that will be presented at the Fiera in Rho as well as part of the Fuori Salone at the down town premises of the school, in via Cerva. Rho Fiera Milano · from 09.30am to 6.30pm Endorsed by Cappellini, the Istituto Marangoni stand will welcome visitors at the reception area of the Fiera's pavillions number 6. There, new washbasins will be presented, designed by the students of the Master's course in Italian Product Design (supervised by Giulio Cappellini, art director of the school) for the catalogue of Ceramica Flaminia, the bathroom fittings leading brand. With them, the new decorative ideas imagined by the students of the course in Visual & Multimedia Design for Tube, the iconic lamp designed by Alessandro Mendini for Slamp. Finally, the lounge chair Pagh will be on display; designed for Cappellini by Matteo Agati, who last year won with this project “Sit Down!”, the international design competition promoted by Cappellini and Istituto Marangoni. The Milano School of Design · from 10am to 7pm The premises of the Milano School of Design, at 24, via Cerva, will instead host “The Beauty of Lightness”, an exhibition born from the cooperation between Rado, the Swiss watchmaker, and Istituto Marangoni. For the Italian edition of the Rado Star Prize, the brand invited students to create new accessories, using both new and traditional materials, on the theme of lightness, a defining feature of the Rado high-tech ceramic watches. The winner of the Rado Star Prize will be  chosen by a jury among the ten finalists, whose work will be on display in the exhibition, and announced during the Award Ceremony on April 14. At stake, a Rado watch and the coveted opportunity of a three-month internship at the company headquarters in Switzerland. The Milano School of Design · from 3pm to 7pm Istituto Marangoni will host at 24, via Cerva, Real Time Design, an interactive laboratory of 3D printing where the students will create little jewels and accessories that will be designed together with the visitors and later given to them. In particular, the participants in the Master's course in Fine Jewellery Design will draw the gadgets, while those of the Master in Italian Product Design will take care of the 3D project, printing them with the vanguard technology provided by Sharebot, the leading 3D printing Italian firm, presenting on the occasion its latest models. Showroom Ruckstuhl  The students of the Master’s course in Home Collection of The Milano School of Design have realised some setting proposals for the Ruckstuhl showroom in via Cerva 23, in the heart of Milan. Their projects, based on the analysis of the history of the Swiss brand, as well as on its aesthetics, were designed to enhance the qualities of the new handcrafted carpets made in Colombia in Fique: a local natural fibre similar to Sisal. Weaving Senses, a project by Aisel Akhmedova, Mehek Jain, Cao Qi, and Jorge Munoz, was chosen for its ability to interpret the style and values of the brand, while showing the amazing beauty of materials and the manufacturing techniques used in the carpets.
