WHAT DO I FIND AT SCHOOL AND WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Here is some pre-arrival information on resources and materials you can refer to before your get to school. Note that Istituto Marangoni offers several facilities for students, such as computers, scanners, on-site copy machines, school email accounts, access to dedicated student Extranet on-line resources for research purposes.

HARDWARE: You can use the school’s internet connection. At School you will find multi-function laser colour printers, that can also be used to scan and send documents to email addresses or USB drives. Apple hardware is recommended but not required. Also, we recommend you consider bringing the following (not required): a usb-c to usb adapter, an adapter for drawing tablets (Wacom), external webcams, external hard drivers etc...; a Bluetooth ergonomic mouse (for i.e. Logitech mx master) to prevent wrist pain and improve in-app features (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign…); a drawing tablet (fashion design course only) to draw freely with Adobe applications instead of using a trackpad.

SOFTWARE: You can access the full Adobe Creative Cloud package, Microsoft Office 365 Education Web Access and Virtual Lab platform, where you can run cloud apps without installing them onto your computer such as Clo3D and other apps suggested by the teachers. iMac computers in laboratories and classrooms can be used freely in case of failure or temporary unavailability of your personal MacBook|pc. We suggest that you to bring a laptop with RAM Memory at least 16GB to 512GB storage (such as an Apple MacBook Pro 13” with Apple Chip M1. Visit the Apple website https://www.apple.com/us-hed/shop to obtain a discount with the Unidays Account).

PRINTING: Digital and environmentally friendly projects are normally preferred. However, some courses may require high-quality printing for professional outputs (e.g. Honours Projects, Portfolios).

SOURCING: subjects involving Fabrics and Materials may require the purchase of fabric samples to complete assessments (e.g. Fabric Books, Portfolios). The purchase for multiple subjects is often managed by the course tutor, making logistics easier and enabling students to get discounts.
