Design Drops Project for Jannelli&Volpi
With creative input from the CO.DE Contemporary Design brand, Jannelli&Volpi challenged the students of the Surface & Textile postgraduate course at Istituto Marangoni Milano • The School of Design. Three different themes - 70s Geometric, Children and Floral – were developed in a collection inspired by 1970s design and architecture and Joe Colombo’s product design, restyled and shaped through the creative efforts of the young students involved.
From the brief to the final project, the students conducted conceptual research to standardise the iconic elements of Joe Colombo's design, transformed and codified to produce original designs with a contemporary twist. Key to the project was the analysis of the colour palette of the 1970s, updating warm, bright tones with a modern touch for digitally printed patterns on a vinyl base, which can be easily adapted to interiors and public spaces.
The synergy between Jannelli&Volpi and Istituto Marangoni Milano • The School of Design took the form of a project carried out by the students in collaboration with internationally renowned designers, which will be presented during the Milan Design Week 2021 at the Istituto Marangoni Milano Design School on 24, Via Cerva.
