Patrick Gelse Medina Upcycling Perception
Upcycling Perception is a project based on the Aesthetic Sustainability brief dealing with the issue of sustainable production, in particular of plastic, far too detrimental for the environment. The project intends to change the perception of hemp, an organic material used for millennia before production declined when cannabis was banned in the 1930s. It is slowly being legalized in some countries, giving design companies a chance to be the pioneers of a new shift in taste, since younger generations looking for their first home show a higher regard for sustainability. My project was focused on the creation of a Dining Room collection - a chair, a table, a lamp, and a flower vase - using mainly a plastic pellet obtained from hemp.
