THE COLLECTION: DE' VOID
DE’ VOID reflects soulful emptiness when conforming to societal norms. Laman draws from personal experiences and observations, challenging gender roles, beauty standards, and societal ideals, which often lead to exclusion.
Inspired by Janine Antoni's artwork, "Lick and Lather" (1993), the collection features outfits with altered, unrealistic shapes, portraying the struggle against unrealistic body standards. The collection also explores how we conceal our insecurities through fabric choices, opting for simple, organic materials to maintain authenticity. Traditional fabrics and motifs symbolize vanishing cultures, adding depth to the narrative.
In DE’ VOID Laman expresses the profound impact of societal pressures and the quest for genuine self-expression.
