Gladiators (2020) is a two-channel video installation which presents two parallel worlds, the human and the animal one. The scene depicted on the first channel happens to be in tandem to the one on the second channel. The first one, reveals the struggles of a girl selling roses. The second, the cruel condition of the horses within an unknown market. Here the artist makes us understand how correlated the animal and human worlds are. In Vargova’s artwork, humans not just represent animals in art through the frame of their vision, but animals in human-made environments reflect people’s living conditions. And this is what this project manifests while questioning political and social notions on the subject.
