Exhibition in partnership with Cappellini
The students were challenged to come up with design proposals for the possible launch of a Cappellini spin-off aimed at GenZ customers.
The increasing affirmation of AI has begun to intimidate people, with the fear of losing functional roles or creative positions. In this scenario, product design can promote a harmonious coexistence between man and machine, past and future, nature and culture, addressing technology from a humanistic and anthropological point of view, fostering acceptance and understanding, for a society more receptive to the profound changes introduced by artificial intelligence, starting from the promotion of aesthetic empathy between humans and machines that can thus "feel" the same thing (or experience the same sensations), then moving towards a harmonious coexistence.
In line with this theme - which insists on research for the academic year 2023/24 - Cappellini, a renowned furniture and design brand, has invited students to design proposals for the possible launch of a spin-off of its brand, aimed at Generation Z consumers. This new brand will respond to the unique needs and preferences of this generation, focusing in particular on mitigating digital anxiety.
The purpose of this project was to design furniture and products in line with the values and needs of GenZ through innovative and functional designs, also integrating new technologies (e.g., AI, virtual design, etc.) into physical objects, in a proper balance between the digital world and the physical world. There are 13 products, by as many students, on stage at NO CODE, the exhibition curated by Gustavo Martini, internationally awarded Designer and Alumnus of the School, visitable at Superstudio Più, Via Tortona 27, Milan.
