yusuf kalem wins remix 2015
Istituto Marangoni participant Yusuf Aslan Kalem is the winner of Remix 2015, the annual fashion & fur competition organized by The International Fur Federation (IFF) and supported by Vogue Talents.
Over 900 guests attended the Remix award ceremony at La Pelota in Milano on 4th March, 2015. The fur design contest, organized within Mifur International Fur and Leather Exhibition, shed the spotlight on 12 talented finalists from across the world and their hyper-formal, hyper-tech creations presented to a highly influential audience of industry experts.
Yusuf Aslan Kalem, Turkish 27 year old student in the Fashion Design Womenswear master programme at Istituto Marangoni School of Fashion, was awarded the Remix Gold Prize thanks to the innovative design of his dazzling fur garments. He impressed the jury with inlay patterns on colourful fox and mink fur looks inspired by the ceiling decorations in a Belgian palace and Jan Fabre’s artwork. A very intense, loving work oozing with talent and acquired skills made Yusuf’s designs stand out from 36 garments showcased in total, among which also those of another Istituto Marangoni student - Eker Yelda Sebnem, in the Luxury Accessories Design & Management master programme - who ranked fourth.
«[This] important recognition confirms the very essence of our Mission at Istituto Marangoni, that is, to train talented and qualified professionals for the fashion industry» said Barbara Toscano, Director of the Milano School of Fashion.
