Re:mixing the city (might delete later) • the second edition of the mentorship project with Andy Picci
Istituto Marangoni Firenze's special Mentorship project with Andy Picci ended in June 2021. Andy Picci is a digital artist, internationally known for his artistic career and multimedia vision. His work revolves around the concepts of identity, fluidity, notoriety, and the influence that social networks have in our daily life.
The interdisciplinary contest Ceiling Fresco has been launched as part of the Mentorship with the aim of demonstrating how past, present and future coexist both in the world of visual arts and fashion. Second year students of Istituto Marangoni Firenze were invited to reimagine in a contemporary key the production of the frescoes on the ceilings of the historic buildings of the city of Florence.
The winning project of the contest distinguished itself by creating a Capsule Collection inspired by Renaissance architecture, with the potential to be sold as NFT.
In October, thanks to the launch of a new edition of the Mentorship, students involved will be able to deepen the new languages in multimedia and artistic visual communication, exploring the new contaminations in the fields of digital arts, media and new technologies.
The participants of the RE:MIXING THE CITY (might delete later) project will have the opportunity to design and create a new, fascinating and unexpected way to experience and explore the city, thanks to the integration between Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence.
A unique opportunity to improve their talent, creating a concrete project under the guidance of an exceptional Mentor, in a world where the difference between real and virtual is becoming increasingly blurred and the work of art is gradually abandoning its material essence offering to the public new worlds, perceptions and experiences.
