The Global Master’s Programme For Luxury Business Professionals goes practical with experiential weeks in Milan, London and Paris
Istituto Marangoni has joined forces, skills and best practices with the POLIMI Graduate School of Management to create a 12-month Global Master’s Programme for Luxury Business Professionals. Merging online and in-person classes, the course started in June 2022, allowing students to deepen their knowledge of today’s luxury business scenario and share in one-off, hands-on experiences. From marketing to digital transformation, sustainability, supply chain and the related financial aspects, the programme aims to address today’s challenges and form successful, visionary professionals who can keep up with modern evolution and rethink strategies.
The Master’s programme involves three “experiential weeks” at the Istituto Marangoni schools in Milan, London and Paris, international capitals of fashion, art and design, with visits to major brands, exhibitions, lectures and workshops by industry leaders.
During their study week in Milan, students of the GMLBP course had the unique opportunity to attend an exclusive lecture by designer Giulio Cappellini titled ‘The new frontiers in luxury’. Ferrari representatives delivered a one-off masterclass at the Istituto Marangoni Milano Fashion School and launched a special contest with a final delivery of the projects on 12th December.
The ensuing talks involved high-profile Marangoni lecturers, including Dario Golizia, who spoke about “Italian Luxury & Fashion Excellence”, and Anna Zinola, who focused on soft skills and negotiation strategies. The two Course Directors, Abdullah Abo-Milhim for Istituto Marangoni and Alessandro Brun for Polimi, added valuable insight, support and advice.
Several activities and guided tours across Milan enriched their learning experience. These included an exclusive visit to the Samsung Smart Home Lab to explore the new opportunities provided by smart, connected homes and technology; a tour of the Accenture Innovation Lab to learn about how the company strengthened and spread a culture of sustainability by partnering with several other brands. But also a dedicated visit to the Ferrari Store in Milan, discovering the brand’s new lifestyle and fashion lines and two special tours of Versace Home and Dolce&Gabbana Home to learn how these two brands have established their businesses in the luxury interior design sector.
As part of their week-long experience, the students also explored two gems of Italian luxury in the stunning city of Florence. During this field trip, they relived the most iconic advertising campaigns of the Gucci Maison in recent years, with a special visit to the Gucci Garden and the exhibition “Archetypes”, discovering the brand’s history through a selection of its most celebrated advertising campaigns. A trip to Salvatore Ferragamo’s archives and its production site in Osmannoro – opened exclusively for them – completed the experience with a valuable opportunity to observe all the stages of a shoe production process oozing all-Italian excellence.
The students’ experience will continue in London and Paris for a full-fledged immersion in the luxury business world.
