The city of Milano hosted yet another exciting fashion event that saw Istituto Marangoni as one of the protagonists. Fashion Film Festival Milano, founded and directed by Constanza Cavalli Etro, presented its 2019 edition, choosing Istituto Marangoni as its Educational Partner. Now in its sixth year, the Festival offers the city a unique opportunity that brings fashion, art and creativity to the big screen. From November 7-10, Milan’s Anteo Palazzo del Cinema hosted the screening of over 200 fashion films from more than 50 countries – divided into thematic capsules conceived by curator Gloria Maria Cappelletti. The international jury was composed of leaders from the worlds of fashion, cinema and art. Together with jury president Giorgio Armani, the members were Cass Bird, photographer; Oskar Metsavaht, founder of the Brazilian brand Osklen; Waris Dirie, top model and human rights activist; Ezra Petronio, founder and Creative Director of Petronio Associates, Editor-in-Chief of Self Service and photographer; Cristiana Capotondi, actress, creator and producer of Fuoricinema; Vicente Todolì, Artistic Director of Pirelli HangarBicocca; Angelo Flaccavento, fashion critic; Sissy Vian, Fashion Editor-at-Large of Vogue Japan.  Students and Alumni of Istituto Marangoni were the protagonists of The Gaze of the Future Fashion Film Contest, the contest created by FFFMilano and Istituto Marangoni to support emerging talent in the creative industry. After the screening of the ten finalists’ films on Saturday, Nov 9, a jury composed of Anna Dello Russo, Alice Etro, Clara Del Nero and Constanza Cavalli Etro selected Fabio Princigallo as the winner of this competition recognizing his film as the best fashion film produced. ‘In un Mondo di Etnie’ invites us on a journey through the Moroccan culture; by bringing Morocco to Milan, Princigallo demonstrates the cultural contamination between the two countries and the presence of Maghreb traditions in the Milanese life. The jury chose ‘Marte 2050’ by Mariah Cidral of the Paris School and ‘SOIS SAGE Ô MA DOULEUR’ by London-based Natalia Esteve as second and third runner up.  The film screening included a special conversation on the theme "Fashion films as a contemporary means of communication" with Andrea Pompilio as a special guest.    10 Finalists: Alexandrina Chirila + Gabija Labutyté (Dsquared2) • Milano Benedetta Paganini + Cristian Lorenzoni (Dsquared2) • Milano Benedetta Vangi • Firenze Chen Han Chung, Sneham Choudhary, Shu Zhi Lim, Chinara Ikhsan • London Cristian lorenzoni • Milano Fabio Princigallo • Milano Mariah Cidral • Paris Natalia Esteve • London Vito Carpineto • Milano    Watch the winner and two runners up films on Istituto Marangoni YouTube channel.
