The eye is your creative engine
The eye is your creative engine
Istituto Marangoni Firenze participates in Pitti Reflection, the theme of this year’s Pitti Immagine show, which invites us to use a mirror to investigate what has not yet been revealed, and to analyse ourselves, our own image and the world around us.
The School of Fashion & Art of Florence will contribute to the event with a round table entitled “The eye is your creative engine”, with Paul Andrew, who is returning to Florence after leaving his role as Creative Director at Salvatore Ferragamo, Sarah Coleman, a New York artist with a focus on upcycling luxury accessories, Andy Picci, the artist behind Instagram's most dreamlike visual art and Francesca Giulia Tavanti, Art Programme Leader of the School.
It will be an opportunity to meet the three guests who have chosen to undertake an exclusive Mentorship programme with Istituto Marangoni Firenze students in 2021/2022 and to listen to their views.
The use of the mirror in the realm of creativity will be the main theme of their dialogue, moderated by Stefano Roncato, MF Fashion Director
Inspired by this year’s Pitti theme, the panel will investigate the relationship between the eye and the gaze, between seeing and understanding, between exterior and interior, ego and vanity, also addressing the issues of digital alter egos, virtuality and metaverse.
This is precisely what connects art and fashion, whose cross-pollination is at the heart of the academic programme at Istituto Marangoni Firenze: their way of reflecting and mirroring the personal identity of artists and designers, as well as the times in which they live.
The mirror will be a tool to reveal the different yet complementary personalities of Mentors at Istituto Marangoni Firenze, who will reflect together on the indissoluble relation between identity, ego and creative concept.
The event will take place on Wednesday 12th January at 3pm, in the Conference Room of the Fortezza da Basso, and will also be streamed live.
