The soul of Gianfranco Ferré, researcher and traveller, inspired the students of Fashion Business and of the Master's in Art Management and Curating Art and Fashion of Istituto Marangoni Firenze for the creation of " The Alchemist of Fashion - Unveiling the Formula of Gianfranco Ferré", an exhibit that reflects the experience of his creative phase, the work in progress behind all his pieces. The project, developed in collaboration with WP Archive, showcases Gianfranco Ferrè's artistic production and will be open to the public from June 12nd to June 16th inside the WP Store and the WP Relais in via della Vigna Nuova.

The exhibition is divided into five thematic areas and begins with a reproduction of the designer's studio. The designer's workspace has a cosy feel, similar to a sixteenth-century artisan's workshop. It is filled with fabrics, mannequins, unfinished clothing, and mirabilia from around the world.  A real Wunderkammer that continues with a narration of the elements that inspired his creativity: NATURE, which includes naturalia and botanical elements; the MIDDLE AGES, from which Ferré took the chainmail to adapt it to the female body; VOYAGE, with objects and suggestions from his many travels to the East that inspired his love of colours and RUNWAY ARCHITECTURE, represented by dynamic mannequins wearing voluminous clothing reminiscent of Gianfranco Ferré's background.

This ‘chamber of wonders’ exhibition concept, and a new vision of the creative genius, allowed the students from Istituto Marangoni Firenze to showcase the world of Gianfranco Ferrè in its entirety, to tell the story of the architect and designer but also the behind-the-scenes of his work and the inspirations that fuelled his creativity.
