Istituto Marangoni Firenze • Alessia Ancillotti wins the YKK award
Alessia Ancillotti, a student of Istituto Marangoni Firenze, achieved an extraordinary victory by winning the prize for the YKK category in the ninth edition of Milano Fashion Graduate, organised by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana.
The event took place at Palazzo Reale on September 19th to inaugurate Milan Fashion Week, and aims to promote the excellence of Italian fashion schools and support young talent.
For the YKK category, the event's main sponsoring company, 11 young emerging designers were selected to compete and were asked to create a look that focused on closure accessories, such as the brand’s iconic zipper.
The outfit created by Alessia is a multisensory journey that engages the viewer on both perceptual and psychological levels. The depth of the blue colour is complemented by soft shapes that transform the garments dynamically. Metallic elements add an auditory dimension, whereas the fabric is manipulated to create distortions and optical illusions that deliver constant movement.
President Tomoya Nakahata of YKK Italy presented Alessia with the award, which includes a trip to Japan to discover the YKK world and the innovation of one of the world's leading clothing accessories brands.
Alessia Ancillotti is one of the designers who walked the runway in Florence at the Istituto di Scienze Militari Aeronautiche in June, when Istituto Marangoni Firenze presented the 10 best designers of the school year. Her collection, Oltre, was an invitation to let go and follow your instincts to overcome your limits.
