Istituto Marangoni Milano is committed to promoting ecological and social responsibility with a new project in collaboration with Sara Sozzani Maino and Fondazione Sozzani dedicated to all second-year students of the courses of Fashion Design, Fashion Styling and Fashion Business.

The project is called I’M Conscious and aims to explore the concept of responsible fashion, which is critical for a sustainable future.

Sara Sozzani Maino will personally guide the students, along with a series of masterclasses and talks, which will focus on the concept of responsibility in various disciplines, providing a comprehensive understanding of the theme from all angles.

The brief is divided into three outputs depending on the field of study of the students, who will deliver their final project at the end of the Academic Year 2023/2024.

Aspiring Fashion Designers will create a capsule collection of three garments made entirely of recycled materials, looking for the most effective way to give them a new life while maintaining their personal style. 

The brief for future Stylists, on the other hand, will require them to create an editorial shoot or a short fashion film expressing the concept of cultural and social responsibility. Workshops will be conducted to help them achieve their goal, covering topics such as diversity and inclusion, as well as the difference between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation.

Finally, Fashion Business students will develop a sustainable business model and create an effective communication strategy using the latest AI tools. To support their work, they will also participate in workshops focused on circular fashion. 

The project will challenge students to innovate their approach and overcome the difficulties of a system that is hard to disrupt, but, as Sara Sozzani Maino puts it: «The path of a designer is never simple, but I think that if your message and your vision are strong, success and results will follow».
