Welcome Beckham!

The other day, I was waiting in line to order my usual coffee at the school café when I overheard a first-year student tell a friend: “Have you seen the new TV series about Beckham? He was a real influencer. And his style? Absolutely fantastic. I want to dress like him, too."

I smiled. I remembered the former soccer player’s style perfectly – the Gucci leather coat by Tom Ford, the Gianni Versace floral shirt, the Louis Vuitton suitcases. Every time he and his wife, Victoria Adams (formerly known as Posh Spice), went out in public, paparazzi would swarm them, and their pictures would be on the front page of every newspaper and magazine.

Everyone knew David and was inspired by him to be cool. If he had a haircut, everyone would do the same. If he wore a sarong to dinner, the most glamorous men started to show up in sarongs and mules, even in the evening. He even popularised diamonds as ear piercings. The 90s belonged to him and his wife.

Today, the minimalist style has returned to the catwalks of major fashion brands like Gucci with its new creative director, Sabato De Sarno. Thanks to this trend, people’s taste has also changed, and they are already looking to dress minimally. Perhaps they have already started. Welcome, Beckham, welcome back home!
