Amina
Muaddi
Amina Muaddi, founder and creative director of self-titled luxury accessories brand, has been appointed as the new Mentor for fashion programmes at Istituto Marangoni Firenze.
A unique combination of traditional training and avant-garde taste has turned Amina Muaddi into an icon in the fashion industry.
Her accessories line is entirely made in Italy and blends shoe-making expertise and craftsmanship with a global fashion perspective.
The brand has achieved cult status thanks to her signature pyramid heels and sculptural silhouettes, innovative marketing approach and disruptive sales strategy.
Born in Romania to a Jordanian father and a Romanian mother, Amina Muaddi spent her childhood in Jordan before moving first to Romania and then to Italy, where she completed high school and then studied at a fashion university in Milan.
Later, she worked as a stylist for magazines such as L'Uomo Vogue and GQ US in New York. However, it was her time spent in Riviera del Brenta, the historic shoe-making district, that ignited her passion for the craft. She worked alongside world-class craftsmen and suppliers overseeing the development of every component of the shoes.
In 2012, Muaddi co-founded her first footwear brand, Oscar Tiye, in Milan. She parted ways with her co-founders in 2017 and moved to Paris. Her striking silhouettes gained worldwide acclaim, which led to a collaboration with French couturier Alexandre Vauthier for the launch of his eponymous shoe line. Muaddi designed the line for five years, showing at every Paris Haute Couture Week.
In 2018 Muaddi found the freedom and creative spark to create a new heel silhouette, now instantly recognizable, and launched her eponymous brand. Her line, which was initially introduced to the market by ten retailers, including Bergdorf Goodman, Net-a-Porter, and Harrods, was an immediate success, selling out within a single day from the launch.
In 2019, Rihanna commissioned Amina Muaddi to design footwear for her Fenty brand under LVMH, launching in July 2020. Footwear News later honoured their creative efforts with the Collaborator of the Year Award. In 2023 she received the Neiman Marcus Award for Innovation in the Field of Fashion.
Muaddi’s collaborations with Wolford, AWGE, the creative agency founded by A$AP Rocky and stand out moments in cult TV series such as HBO’s Euphoria and Insecure have made her impact on the industry and pop culture as a whole unquestionable.
