Introduction to Fashion Design
The programme begins with the development of individual design skills. Participants will then learn how to discipline their creativity to fit the marketplace and fulfil consumer demands.

This course is specifically designed for beginners who will be guided step by step through the design process. Participants will work from a set brief and will build up design research to generate and develop ideas for fashion garments in womenswear.
During the course they will be introduced to figure drawing and illustration, together with lectures on the fashion system, and how to structure a collection.
By the end of the programme, participants will understand the structure of the fashion system and have the skills to design basic collections for womenswear lines and create a simple portfolio to apply to their individual creative work. They will also have gained a clear idea of the profile of the fashion designer in order to understand if further study, or a future career in this diverse and vibrant industry is suitable for them.
