The Master's in Curating Art & Fashion merges art and fashion, featuring courses and projects focused on museum practices, exhibition curation, and catalogue development. Students will gain essential skills needed for launching careers in both curatorial and managerial roles within the art and fashion sectors while also developing proficiency in digital technologies.
The course is divided into two semesters, each focusing on distinct areas of fashion and art. It combines both theoretical knowledge and practical application to provide a well-rounded learning experience.
First Semester:
- Contemporary Museology: This course explores the tools and history of curating fashion and art, with a focus on fashion archives and cultural mediation. It addresses contemporary issues such as the decolonisation of museums, inclusivity, and sustainability, offering a critical perspective on current museology. With a strong theoretical foundation and practical skills, students are guided in creating informed, impactful, and authentic exhibitions, providing invaluable support for industry projects.
- History of Art and Fashion: This course provides a comprehensive contextual understanding of both art and fashion, offering the foundational knowledge necessary for effective curating.
- Digital Applications: Students will gain essential technological skills to effectively present ideas and curate content for brands, becoming proficient in the tools required for today’s digital landscape.
Second Semester:
- Art Direction: This course connects theoretical concepts with practical applications, transforming ideas into methodologies for exhibition design. It empowers students to approach curating with both creativity and structure.
- Event Management: Students will learn to manage and organise large-scale events with a focus on communication-driven projects. This course provides practical tools and strategies for planning, coordinating, and executing impactful events that engage audiences and meet specific objectives.
The course focuses on developing specialised skills in art and fashion, preparing students for various roles such as Exhibition Curators (Art and Fashion), Art Directors for Cultural Projects, Journalists, Writers, and Researchers in Art and Fashion, Art and Fashion Curators, Creative Directors, Art and Fashion Editors, and Event/Exhibition Managers.
