Where is the school?

Istituto Marangoni Fashion School has 2 different campuses buildings, all located in the very heart of Milan: one 6th floor building is located in Via Pietro Verri 4 and another on a unique floor in Piazza San Babila 3. The Design School is situated in Via Cerva 24.

The School is located in the very heart of Milan, near San Babila Metro station (red line).
You can use the city's efficient public transport system to look for an apartment anywhere; we recommend the areas near the red and yellow Metro lines, like Porta Venezia, Porta Romana, Loreto, or Isola.

Is Milan a safe place to stay?

Milan is generally regarded as a safe city. However, like any other destination, it's advisable to exercise caution and take necessary precautions when traveling abroad, whether it's in Milan or elsewhere around the globe. As a student of Istituto Marangoni, you can rest assured knowing that you have access to dedicated support services provided by International SOS, which you can find detailed information about in the Health & Assistance section. This ensures that you can enjoy your time in Milan with peace of mind, knowing that assistance is readily available should you need it.

I found some housing solutions on social media. Do you think they are reliable?
When it comes to finding housing solutions, it is important to exercise caution, especially when relying on listings found on social media platforms. While some listings may appear promising, there is often a higher risk of encountering scams or unreliable sources when dealing with advertisements on social media.
Therefore, to ensure the safety and reliability of your housing arrangements, it is advisable to seek assistance from reputable agencies that specialize in housing accommodations. These agencies typically have a vetting process in place for listings and can provide you with trustworthy options that meet your needs and preferences.
I decided to choose a private apartment: what kind of information/suggestions do I need to know?
General information about the lease to be signed:
Renting an apartment in Italy often involves some paperwork. It is crucial to carefully review the lease agreement before signing it to safeguard your rights and ensure you're getting a fair deal. This is why we highly recommend seeking assistance from IM partners – they are equipped to guide you through this process.
Typically, landlords in Italy request a security deposit equivalent to 3 months' rent, along with 1 month's rent paid in advance. The lease agreement may include the cost of heating and utilities. If so, it's advisable to request that the landlord itemize these expenses at the end of the year, providing you with a clear breakdown of actual costs.
Following the signing of the lease, either the landlord or the tenant must register the contract with the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) within 30 days. This registration is mandatory by law, and both the landlord and the tenant are responsible for paying the registration tax, which amounts to 2% of the annual rent.
In case you wish to terminate the rental contract, you will need to send a formal letter, typically three months before vacating the property."
Which documents do I need to be able to rent an apartment?
For EU Students:
1. Valid Passport or National Identity Card: This is required to confirm your identity.
2. Proof of Enrollment: You may be required to provide proof of enrollment at your educational institution to demonstrate your student status.
3. Proof of Income: Some landlords may request proof of income or financial support to ensure you can meet the rental payments.
For Non-EU Students:
1. Valid Passport: Your passport is required for identification purposes.
2. Visa or Residence Permit: Non-EU students will need to have a valid visa or residence permit authorizing their stay in Italy.
3. Proof of Enrollment: Evidence of enrollment at your educational institution is typically required.
4. Proof of Income: Similar to EU students, non-EU students may need to provide proof of income or financial support.
Additionally, landlords may have specific requirements or additional documents they request during the rental process. It's essential to inquire with the landlord or rental agency about their specific requirements beforehand to ensure a smooth rental experience

When contacting one of these housing agencies, remember to say you are an Istituto Marangoni student. Even if Istituto Marangoni works alongside these housing agencies and continuously monitors the services they provide, the school cannot be held responsible for failing to find a suitable accommodation, nor for any disputes arising between the student and the agency.
