INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS

After the Three-year Multimedia Arts Degree, students can pursue careers as creative directors, fashion photographers, fashion film directors and multi-layered multimedia content creators. With in-depth industry knowledge and skills adapted to market demands, other job opportunities include roles as experts in 3D production and virtual worlds, curators of 3D and metaverse exhibitions, and sound designers. These career paths meet the current and future needs of the art, fashion and luxury sectors.

FIRST YEAR:

The student begins to develop the skills of reading and analysing images, also learning the basics of drawing using both traditional techniques such as oil painting and digital techniques, with the possibility of combining these two approaches. Subsequently, the course concentrates on photography, including exercises with different photographic genres (including ‘still life’ and other photographic compositions), leading at the end of the year to the creation of a portfolio that brings together all the work carried out in a creative manner, accompanied by a photo-book documenting the artistic journey.

SECOND YEAR:

Students explore the field of New Media Aesthetics, with a course covering history and visual culture, including the evolution of film culture from the past to the present. The curriculum also includes an in-depth study of moving images, with lectures on video production from both a creative and commercial perspective, such as fashion films. Part of the course is dedicated to film and audiovisual analysis, with a focus on sound design, i.e. how to manage and create audio for videos. During the second year, aspiring creatives take their first approach to 3D visual modelling, using software such as Blender.

THIRD YEAR:

Students are required to develop three works reflecting their artistic identity, personally choosing the technologies to be used and receiving support from teachers of various subjects. A very important course during the third year is Multimedia Planning in which students effectively understand how to plan and build a multimedia project on different levels. The final project consists of the presentation of their three works and the production of a thesis, possibly related to the works themselves. A unique opportunity for students is the Art Show, where the school presents a selection of the best works, showing the creations realised by the students.

Istituto Marangoni Firenze offers a unique opportunity to harness the city's rich history and artistic tradition as a stage for contemporary and future innovation. The proximity to world-famous museums, the prestigious Pitti Immagine trade fairs and collaborations with institutions such as Palazzo Strozzi allow students to immerse themselves in ancient and contemporary art. This access to a rich heritage of craft and production centres an unparalleled environment for exploration and creativity.

Thanks to Istituto Marangoni's strong ties with leading luxury companies and its diverse international student community, the school offers a unique methodology that allows students to work on projects under the supervision of the most prestigious fashion and art brands, gaining valuable global perspectives.

Some of the main projects involving students from the art area include:

• ‘Acqua Panna New Visual Identity’, a creative project for Acqua Panna that involved students from Florence working together with fashion students from Istituto Marangoni Shanghai

• ‘The Alchemist Of Fashion - Unveiling the Formula of Gianfranco Ferré’, an exhibition dedicated to the designer in collaboration with WP Archivio on the occasion of the 2023 edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo

• ‘A feminine Lexicon’, a digital exhibition for Museo Salvatore Ferragamo

• ‘Remixing the city’, a digital exhibition in collaboration with visual artist Andy Picci

• ‘Discycling project’, a sustainability initiative featuring Sarah Coleman for the first edition, and then Cartier, Pardgroup and international photographer Maurizio Galimberti for the second edition.

• ‘A Glitch of Self’, a phygital exhibition with the guidance of visual artist Andy Picci
